Can a brand new recruitment firm feel established? Hamilton Jones Consulting’s heritage inspired rebrand argues yes, with prestige.

Hamilton Jones Consulting, a recruitment consultancy that comes from a genuine understanding of the finance and accounting sectors, knows a thing or two about making the right connections.

Founded in October 2024 by Flora Hamilton and Daniel Jones, Hamilton Jones specialises in partnering with businesses across Cheshire, North Wales, and Merseyside to find exceptional finance and accounting talent. But as a newly established firm, they faced a unique challenge. They needed positioning that reflected their expertise and regional roots whilst establishing immediate credibility in a crowded recruitment market. This isn’t generic headhunting or transactional placement services. This is strategic partnership built on understanding both businesses and candidates, creating connections that last. Their challenge was clear: how do you launch a brand that feels established when you’re brand new? That’s where I came in, to create a brand identity that positioned them as trusted local experts from day one.

I needed to craft a brand that captured a delicate balance: heritage credibility without feeling dated or stuffy, approachable warmth without losing professional authority, and strong regional identity without limiting growth potential. The work began with understanding what Hamilton Jones actually offers, not just CV matching, but the kind of strategic recruitment partnership that understands local business landscapes and builds lasting relationships.

This led me to position Hamilton Jones as established Cheshire expertise with approachable partnership values. All the elements I created (the interlocking HJ monogram, the Cheshire fleur de lis symbol, the elegant Playfair Display typography, the heritage palette of forest green, sage, and warm taupe) backed into this ethos of regional roots meeting professional credibility, heritage meeting accessibility. Each element played an integral part in conveying that recruitment is about people, relationships, and deep understanding of local business communities.

Here’s why that positioning mattered: most recruitment firms either feel corporate and impersonal, or so casual they lack credibility. For a brand new company, this challenge intensifies. Flora and Daniel needed to differentiate as established local experts despite launching in October 2024. They knew their clientele would be attracted to strong Cheshire positioning, valuing local expertise over generic national firms. My job through the brand creation was to represent Hamilton Jones as credible professionals with deep regional understanding, proving that heritage isn’t just about decades of trading, it’s about roots, values, and commitment to community. The resulting brand identity mirrors their philosophy: recruitment works best when it’s built on genuine relationships and local knowledge.

During discovery, what struck me most was Flora and Daniel’s deep understanding of the Cheshire business landscape and their commitment to doing recruitment differently. They understood that in the finance and accounting sectors, trust and credibility are everything. Flora Hamilton reflected on the process: “We can’t thank Jade enough for the fantastic work she did in creating our branding. She absolutely nailed it. I translated that regional pride into the logo design. The primary mark features an interlocking HJ monogram (the initials elegantly woven together, symbolising the connections Hamilton Jones creates between businesses and talent). The monogram uses warm taupe and forest green, immediately signalling sophistication and natural Cheshire heritage. This isn’t flashy or trendy, it’s timeless and confident. The interlocking structure represents partnership, the fundamental principle of how Flora and Daniel work, bringing businesses and candidates together in mutually beneficial relationships. As the most immediate visual touchpoint for the brand, the logo feels established yet fresh, professional yet approachable, regional yet credible. Sophisticated, heritage rich, and uniquely ownable to Hamilton Jones.

The complete brand system includes the elegant wordmark “Hamilton Jones” set in Playfair Display (a refined serif that brings classical credibility and timeless sophistication). Critically, the brand incorporates the fleur de lis, the historic symbol of Cheshire. This wasn’t arbitrary. The fleur de lis appears on Cheshire’s coat of arms and connects Hamilton Jones directly to the region they serve. It signals: we’re not a faceless national firm, we’re rooted in Cheshire, we understand this landscape, we’re part of this community. The fleur de lis appears as a standalone brand asset, perfect for secondary applications, social media icons, and reinforcing regional identity throughout all touchpoints.

The typography balances heritage elegance with modern clarity. Playfair Display brings the sophisticated, established feel required for finance and accounting recruitment. It’s the typography of trusted institutions, professional services, and credible partnerships. The high contrast serifs and elegant proportions communicate quality and attention to detail. Arial provides the supporting body text, clean, universally legible, and professional. This pairing allows Hamilton Jones to maintain sophistication in headlines whilst ensuring all content (job descriptions, candidate communications, business proposals) remains perfectly readable across digital and print applications.

I structured the colour palette to honour Cheshire’s natural landscapes whilst maintaining professional credibility. Forest Green anchors the palette in the rich, established heritage of Cheshire’s countryside, the colour of enduring growth, trustworthy expertise, and natural beauty. It’s the deepest, most authoritative colour, signalling that Hamilton Jones has roots and substance. Sage Green provides softer, more approachable balance, the colour of new growth, fresh perspectives, and accessible professionalism. Duck Egg Blue brings calm clarity, the colour of Cheshire’s waterways and open skies, representing the clear communication and transparent partnerships Hamilton Jones offers. Chocolate Brown grounds the palette in warmth and earthiness, the colour of Tudor beams and historic Cheshire architecture, connecting directly to regional heritage. Warm Taupe (used prominently in the logo monogram) provides sophisticated neutrality, the colour of natural stone and timeless elegance. Soft Cream creates breathing space and allows other colours to shine whilst maintaining premium feel.

Whilst I was creating a heritage inspired brand identity appropriate for professional services recruitment, it was equally important to maintain warmth and approachability. This was achieved through the careful balance of classic elements (fleur de lis, serif typography, forest green) with softer, more human touches (warm taupe, sage tones, lifestyle imagery showing real people and families). I wanted the brand to work equally well on LinkedIn reaching finance directors and on initial candidate outreach emails, connecting the dots between professional credibility and genuine human partnership.

The brand imagery strategy deliberately showcases Cheshire’s distinctive character. Tudor architecture, historic bridges, and natural waterways appear throughout the visual system, reinforcing regional identity at every touchpoint. These aren’t generic stock photos, they’re unmistakably Cheshire. Paired with warm, approachable lifestyle imagery (families, professionals, natural moments), the brand balances heritage architecture with human warmth. The geometric interlocking pattern serves as a secondary brand asset, creating visual texture whilst reinforcing the partnership and connection themes central to Hamilton Jones’s approach.
